Markets and Festivals

On our first days we came across a market festival event in the middle of a major Osaka road. Kappo, a huge event stretching along several kilometers of closed off road. Filled with little stands selling food and drinks, people in huge fluffy cartoon suits and a great number of people.
Kappo Street Market
If suddenly the entire crowd scatters and there is just a white guys in the middle of the street laughing, its nothing dangerous, it's just raining. All it took was a light shower for the crowds to immediate disperse towards anything that could be considered shelter.

The first days market was followed by another chance encounter with an outdoor market in the park, just near Osaka Castle. Although smaller the quality was much improved, and we made several purchases, including a dubious (but pretty - Miranda) bottle of alcohol labeled as 70%... There were also some musical and dancing performances; traditional as well as very modern (video below).

Something I enjoy about these events is that they feel authentic, you get to participate in a real part of Japanese life.
